Notes
Bugfixes we need to handle for 0.5 release
- Performance problem with selection text (brandon is handling it, about to commit fix)
- Upgrade problem from 0.1.8 to 0.5. Doesn't upgrade cleanly, sometimes becomes completely unusable. There is a blocker bug for it, #780. If someone could take a look at it that'd be great.
String Freezing
- We will be freezing strings this friday (June 26th) for the 0.5 release.
The Herd discussion
- Fern is working on fixing things with The Herd.
- CouchDB takes too much diskspace, we may want to look at other schema-free database engines.
- CouchDB saves revisions of all saves, so we should perhaps compress database. Long term we should change it so that it's not storing so many things unless it needs them.
- CouchDB default behavior is saving revisions - but i (fern) really don't know if we can change that. I never really take o look, but Cassandra (from Facebook) and Voldemort seems good options.
Miscellaneous
- Bug report is not currently recieving bugs. We need to get that back up. We need a good place to go to see the results of bug reports, which fern is working on. In fact, report-bug has been rewritten - the source is here: http://bitbucket.org/fernandotakai/ubiquity_bugreport/overview/
- Take a look at the roadmap wiki page https://wiki.mozilla.org/Labs/Ubiquity/Roadmap. Edit in comments with feedback or suggestions.
- In 0.6 we should focus on improving quality of built-in commands, and nountypes. That way we can point to more tangible end-user benefits.
- Ubiquity commands suggestion wiki page (which will need updating): https://wiki.mozilla.org/Labs/Ubiquity/Ubiquity_Command_Suggestions
- Considering adding featured section to website where we feature commands that we think are well done, secure, useful, etc. Gives developers more incentive to make awesome commands!
- verb (psuedo arg), such as add (to calendar) will eventually change to plug-in structure.
Jono's Wedding
- Jono is getting married on Friday! yay!!! He will be working all next week, and will then be going on his honeymoon for 3 weeks.
