Notes
Target: Mainstream Firefox user, not tech savy
- Main user engagement campaign for Q3
- Get website live by Mid-August 2011
- Creating strong connection with users on Firefox
- Not about downloading Firefox
- Submit creations and show those images in a gallery
- User Answers: "why should I care about the future of the web?"
- Mozilla: "These are all the reasons why our users believe in the web and this is why we created firefox".
- localized content
- Lean campaign
- Putting a face behind the product
- Showing the developers next to the users of Firefox - we are all users!
- All users to upload their photos to be added to the gallery.
- Email sharing with friends and family
- Mozilla created videos showing the creations of posters. (One to start, second during the campaign, third as a wrap up)
Considerations
- Show case thousands of images efficiently and easy UI.
- Sharing on social built-in and not an afterthought.
- All public submissions, not private.
- Moderating photos and user-created translations of photos.
- Only show images that have been on the site for a while or have been voted on the most. (Hope that obscene photos don't bubble up before we catch them)
- Allow users to localize user submitted photos into another language (crowd sourcing and showcase easiest way to get involved in the Mozilla community)
- Filter by artist, location, language, or latest (off by default)
- Mouse over an image and it enlarges. Click for more information the user.
- How to make it easy to upload photos (flash camera, email photo, MMS, forms)
