Template:Language/doc
Usage
{{language}} will translate an ISO 639-1 (or, in a few cases, ISO 639-2) language code into the English proper name for the corresponding language, at the position where you place the template. For some languages there is also a possibility to use the <code>-<region> format (see the list below). Language names are shown as plain text, the default message is shown in italic.
The template is useful for inserting the name of a language in a text, if you only know the language code, or for use in templates where you want the template user to define the language, e.g. for automatic categorizing.
Parameter
There is only one parameter for entering the language code (1
).
-
1
: ISO 639-1 (or, in a few cases, ISO 639-2) language code
This parameter is mandatory. No parameter name needs to be entered. If this parameter is left out, a default message will be displayed.
