Talk:Firefox/Sprints/Doorhanger notifications

looks great so far, I'll send you the large picture of the whiteboard. -- faaborg
I just had some preliminary feedback after speaking with MattN about prototype 1.
- I really like the idea of the doorhanger overlay for notifications. Even though the notification bar is "new", it already seems "old" to me.
- I think, however, that notifications should appear from the addressbar favicon box (where Larry lives). Having them all in one place would be ideal, IMO.
- As far as actions are concerned, it looks cool and modern, but ultimately it does not make things any easier for me. It still takes two clicks to print, for example File > Print vs Actionbutton > Print
- If I was going to add a button to the interface, it would be between HOME and the addressbar.
- I would avoid adding things to the right-side of the status-bar. Reading from top-down left-to-right, this is the location that requires the most eye and mouse movement.
- If you were going to add a button for "actions", I would not remove functionality from the menu bar. One of the biggest complaints I hear from people using Office 2007 (ribbon) is that the change was too much too quickly. A change like moving functionality from one place to another should be much more transitional and should be called out to the public prior to release and on the download page.
Anyway, that's the gist of what I had to say on the topic. Looks good so far. I'm really interested to see how this evolves. -- ashughes
We need to decide what happens when a user removes the notifications button --Mnoorenberghe 08:22, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
