As for Thunderbird, you can have it specify a Vendor, and provide a means to override the default profile location. --Ben

Prey tell, am I only the only one who thinks this is going to be abused. For an example:

  • download Yahoo Messenger, AOL Messenger, and MSN Messenger.
  • Install all three without changing any default settings
  • Open Internet Explorer to find your *three* new search bars all gleaming.

Baaaad idea.

If Firefox gets so popular that "search bars" get included in program installs this is soon going to get out of hand. Firefox should prompt upon start up if you want a toolbar installed or not if it has been recently added. My mum would not be able to work out View > Toolbars > Relevant toolbar.
