Community health monitoring and action strategy
Purpose: Create a monitoring system that enables the SUMO team to monitor the health of the community and a strategy for acting based on the monitoring data. This ensures that new contributors are noticed and provided with help to get started and regular contributors don't go under the radar.
Create the tracking system and metrics to make the community health monitoring to be systematic.
Outcome: A monitoring system based on metrics that are available to all team members and as well as the the community management strategy, that converts the data in actionable data to on board, retain and reward contributors.
Monitoring
We established a community activity index, that allows us to see 4 different activity levels in each functional Area. The idea is to spot the new contributors, the ones starting to become regular, the regular ones and the core contributors.
The definitions are here
By now the community managers get a nightly email with the names of our contributors and the number of contributors in each level.
We will work together with the metrics and the contributor engagement team to build a dashboard that allows us to visualize this. This is a mock up of this dashboard
Strategy for acting based on the data
The contributor on boarding flow tracks the different possibilities of on boardinng new contributors and sending the timely information so that they can get started easily or contact the community mangers if they have any questions.
More details on the on boarding process can be found here
