The current plan for SFD is to make SFD the day after release and the day after that and have it be an all-out support effort day. To make it fun and social, we will send out swag to community members who commit to helping and telling them to "wear your gear, share the love".
Format
- Outreach to communities should begin ASAP. We want a signup for people to commit to helping and get swag sent out.
- The actual bulk of the event will be a 6-hour period (per day), broken into 3 90-minute help session and 30-minute breaks with a 10-minute or so intro slot and 10-minute or so roundup.
- The intro period will just introduce SUMO (for people who aren't regular contributors), help get people set up with accounts and hand out a list of article links that we think will be most useful throughout the day.
- Help sessions are either forum or livechat, possibly with Michael doing a live help session for the first one. Forum mods and SUMO team will be on hand to help with harder questions.
- Breaks will have fun, fast activities to help avoid burnout. I'm imagining things like share photos of the launch, Q&A session with UX, stuff like that.
