What's new in Firefox 129

Firefox Desktop

Reader View with enhanced Text and layout menu
Description: The look and feel of the menus in Desktop Reader View have been updated. New functionality has been added, including the ability to add custom color schemes and additional text formatting options. We want to increase the comfort (and accessibility) of using the reader by making the type controls support all the options in the WCAG success criteria for text spacing, allowing users to pick their preferred fonts and allowing custom colors.

Extending linux install SUMO page with AppArmor profile info for non packaged installations
Description: Our sandbox code makes use of unprivileged user namespaces when creating new processes for enforcing more security. This feature can in some context be considered a security risk, thus some distribution started to restrict its usage and only allow it to selected binaries via AppArmor profiles.

Update to the clear history dialog
Description: There is a new UI for the clear history dialog, with new clearing options, and functionality. Users can now see how much data they are clearing for cookies and cache based on the time range they select to clear. Additionally, the dialog has been unified through all entry points for clearing history (hamburger menu, about:preferences#privacy --> clear data, clear history, clear on shutdown). The clear site data dialog will have it's own clear options remembering, separate from clear history and clear on shutdown. The new dialog will be enabled by default.
