QA Staff Meeting Notes Nov 10, 2010
New Hires
Project Status
- Overview (2 min brief update)
Desktop Firefox (Juan)
- Fx4b7: Shipping today ~@noon
- Fx4b8: ETA ship within two weeks of b7.
- All tests should be in litmus before then.
Maintenance and Security (Al)
- Next releases are 3.6.13 and 3.5.16. There is still no ETA on End of Life for 3.5.x (we're well past the six month mark).
- Current tasks are verifying incoming fixes with nightly builds.
Schedule for the next releases
- Code Freeze - Thursday, November 18th @ 11:59 pm PST
- Build #1 start - Sunday, November 21st
- Build #1 available - Monday, November 22nd
- Go to beta @ 25%: - Tuesday, November 23rd (or early on the 24th depending on resources)
- Increase beta to 50% - Monday, November 29th
- Increase beta to 75% - Wednesday, December 1st
- Increase beta to 100% - Friday, December 3rd
- Final Release - Thursday, December 9th
- Slip Date #1 (if needed) - Thursday, December 16th
- Slip Date #2 (if needed) - Tuesday, December 21st
Browser Technologies (Tony)

- Finished Release testing Beta 2 last week
- Ported Nightly Tester Tools over to Mobile
- Going through feedback received
- Going to work with Waverley on performance testing across browsers and top site testing across locales

- Fx Sync 1.5.1 pushed to AMO last week
- To test Server 1.5 against dev/stage this week
- Next-gen Server: See Bug 608039 that tracks everything
- Maintaining bug work and litmus work at zero - Finishing up test case requests this week
- Test Pilot (tracy)
- Crash found in Week in the life of a browser (v2) access to about:memory on a few versions of Linux. Those version will be black listed 'til the underlying bug is solved

- Firefox Home (tony)
- 1.0.4 is submitted to App store. includes localization, native app support, and high res images for iphone 4
- J-PAKE is included in Home 1.1b1. Works with fx-sync beta.
- Jetpack (ayan)
- SDK 0.10 RC to code freeze today.
- Planning to delay the release in order to make it a beta quality release.
- Flightdeck automation on track with selenium scripting.
- Some of the bugs that hamper the automation scripting will be marked blockers for Flightdeck 1.0a6 release.
- Crossweave (ayan)
- Need to brainstorm with jonathan about crossweave behavior for Firefox 4.
WebQA (Stephen)

- Worked on pages for beta 7 Tracking Bug
- Continued worked on Firefox Redesign Current Bugs

- AMO 5.12.2 went live yesterday (11/09). It was a good release.
- SUMO KB is scheduled to be feature complete Thursday.

- Shipped 1.7.5 on Sunday night

- There is a test day proposed for 11/19 focusing on AMO and Personas.
- Crash Investigation
- CrashKill team met on Monday to triage crash bugs.
- Keeping a close eye on both early Beta 7 data as well as Trunk data.
- Today we learned the Crash Reporter is broken for Mac 10.5 only on Trunk and Beta 7. See bug 599475 for more details.
- Community Planning
- Tomcat and Marcia discussing a possible Balkans event with William Quiviger
- Video Work
- Hoping to shoot the "Making Mozilla Better" video with Rainer and William Reynold this week.

- a lot of things in planing like CeBIT 2011 and will soon (at least next year) some updates
- Next Munich Meetup is November 26 - will likely talk about TechTalks and Workshops we plan next year

- Accessibility:
- Still dealing with some fall out from bug 570275, but we have things under control and will get this all back into shape for Firefox 4 ship. The perf win we're getting out of this is well worth the effort.
- HTML5 enhancements landed, some of which caused some good discussions since the specifications were unclear, and our interpretation of them in the implementation exposed some weaknesses. These are now being rectified, and the proposed changes getting back into FX4, see bug 610650.
- Nothing scheduled from our end for FX 3.6.13.

- Mozmill 1.5.1 has been released on PyPI. Awaiting approval on AMO
- Mozmill tests are now executed on Buildbot!
