This session is part of the Video Lab, where over two days we're aiming to build a tool that remixes video in the classroom. For an overview of what we're after, visit here first

Hackathon One - How to run a successful Open Source Project

There is a lot to learn about running a successful open source project, and long time Mozilla community member David Humphreys teaches developers how to do it every day. At the Center for Developement of Open Technology at Seneca College, software developers learn open source by doing, and have contributed to succesful projects such as Firefox, Open Office and Red Hat among others.

Dave will hand out helpful hints for setting up channels for communication, how not to be a jerk, and how to set attainable and productive milestones. We'll eat our own dogfood and set up these processes for the open video tool we'll be building in the next session.
