[11:38] <ctalbert> It's about time to get started with the calendar QA Chat: the agenda is here: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:QA_Chat:2006-12-07 [11:38] -->| mschroeder (mschroeder@moz-B179B1FA.dip0.t-ipconnect.de) has joined #calendar-qa [11:39] <ctalbert> Hi mschroeder [11:40] <firebot> New Calendar - Provider: ICS/Webdav bug 363085 filed by sebastian.schwieger@googlemail.com. [11:40] <firebot> Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363085 nor, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, Not possible to enter a webdav share that requires SSLVerifyClient [11:40] <ctalbert> The agenda for today is: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:QA_Chat:2006-12-07 [11:41] <firebot> sebastian.schwieger@googlemail.com set the Resolution field on bug 249796 to WORKSFORME. [11:41] <firebot> Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=249796 maj, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, RESO WORKSFORME, I am unable to configure user/password when wanting to publish my calendar to a remote location [11:41] <ctalbert> So, first, does anyone have any feedback on the December 5th Test day? [11:42] <mschroeder> hi ctalbert [11:42] <ctalbert> I plan to get the results together from it and submit post those to the blog and the NG this afternoon [11:42] <ctalbert> Did the new time work out for people? [11:44] <ctalbert> Silence == yes [11:44] <Sebo> there was someone asking for the reason, but I think it is ok [11:44] <ctalbert> The reason was to prevent the test day from starting before the nightly builds were ready. [11:44] -->| mschroeder2 (mschroeder@moz-B179B1FA.dip0.t-ipconnect.de) has joined #calendar-qa [11:44] <ctalbert> This had been a problem in the past. [11:45] |<-- mschroeder has left irc.mozilla.org (Quit: ) [11:45] <Sebo> yes, I remember that [11:45] <ctalbert> It was still a problem on Tuesday because the mac builds didn't make it in time for the test day's beginning. [11:45] <Sebo> for us europeans it is fine: we have the afternoon and the evening [11:45] =-= mschroeder2 is now known as mschroeder [11:45] <ctalbert> It would have worked better for me too. [11:46] <ctalbert> Other thoughts on the test day? [11:46] <Sebo> well, we have to think about calbot [11:47] <ctalbert> Is it proving useful? [11:47] <ctalbert> Or is it getting in the way? [11:47] <Sebo> it seems that there are not so many people joining - and less people that actualy ask calbot what to do [11:49] <ctalbert> With the shorter timeframe for the test day, there is less moderator switching, which is the problem I envisioned for calbot to help solve. [11:49] <xFallenAngel> maybe because his capabilities are a bit limited w.r.t tasks. Maybe the user should be able to get the next bug that is unconfirmed or something. Since we are not that many, I believe the users see no point in telling him what they are working on [11:50] <xFallenAngel> Or I have to make a perfect natural language parser that will find out what people are working on by what they are saying :) [11:50] <Sebo> heh [11:50] <ctalbert> I agree with your first point [11:51] <Sebo> yes, the task list is probably something that is better in the wiki [11:52] <xFallenAngel> the question is, how do we keep track of what is happening? Users usually dont tell us what they are doing until we either ask them or they encounter a problem [11:52] <ctalbert> that is true, and I don't expect user's behavior to change in that regard. [11:52] <Sebo> in case of litmus it is easy: I like the report feature [11:53] -->| ulf (ulf@moz-ED7C3551.dip.t-dialin.net) has joined #calendar-qa [11:53] <ctalbert> Calbot could auto query litmus or bugzilla [11:53] <Sebo> and then auto-construct a nice web page ;-) [11:53] <xFallenAngel> wow you are giving me ideas... :) [11:54] <ctalbert> Hi Ulf, we're discussing feedback on the dec. 5 test day...currently calbot. [11:54] <xFallenAngel> that would be possible, yes. Take a snapshot of what bugs are unconfirmed at the beginning of the testday, then query them once in a while, keeping track of who confirmed what [11:54] <xFallenAngel> and query litmus for test case results [11:54] <ctalbert> That would be very nice for totalling it all in the end. :-) [11:54] <xFallenAngel> then put up the results on the wiki when the day is over [11:54] <ctalbert> Currently, I do all that by hand with queries and bug mail. [11:54] <ulf> ctalbert: hi, thx [11:55] <xFallenAngel> and of course when the wiki page first gets put up a command to parse the start and end times from those values :) [11:55] <xFallenAngel> eh from that page I mean [11:55] <xFallenAngel> brb, gotta pick up my girlfriend :) [11:56] <ctalbert> Well, anything else about the test day other than calbot? [11:57] <ulf> any feedback on the sun provided components [11:58] <ctalbert> I think my favorite part of the event dialog was the recurrence panel, with the preview option. [11:58] <Sebo> I liked being able to choose the timezone in the edit dialog [11:59] <ulf> what do people think about the general usability of the dialog [12:00] <Sebo> but alarms in tasks gave problems for me [12:00] <ctalbert> I did not like the "Attachment" part of the event dialog. It wasn't clear what to attach, or how it would be handled. Once I exported to ICS and saw that it was used as a URL, I started to feel that is probably a bug. But it is probably a much larger issue of how we don't really handle attachments that well right now. [12:00] <ulf> Sebo: right, alarms and tasks are still problematic [12:01] <ulf> ctalbert: completely agreed - there is much confusion about this dialog [12:01] <ctalbert> Overall, I felt the usability is good. I still like the expandable nature of our current event dialog, and if you could find a way to mirror that functionality in the prototype dialog, I think you'd have a winner. [12:02] <Sebo> ctalbert: I had the same problem. I didnt know what attach means until I figured that the URL should go there [12:02] <ulf> ctalbert: you mean the "more " button? [12:03] <ctalbert> The Free/Busy screen was confusing at first, but it sounds like Daniel has been updating the UI. [12:03] <ctalbert> ulf: yes [12:03] <ctalbert> ulf: there are good arguments both for and against that thing. It's definitely something advanced users prefer and it confuses the heck out of first time users. [12:04] <ulf> ctalbert: micky updateted the free/busy if I'm not wrong [12:04] <ctalbert> Ulf: there might be a way to avoid having the "More" button by allowing a better interface for inline editing. I think Christian had some ideas about that. [12:05] <ctalbert> ulf: oops. My mistake. I meant Mickey [12:05] <ulf> I can understand that the free/busy looks confusing at a first glance [12:06] <ulf> the real power of the dialog probably shows when connected to a calendar server like the sd-calendar.staroffice.de [12:06] <ulf> did anybody try that? [12:07] <ctalbert> I haven't yet, but I hope to, now that I remember my credentials. :-) [12:07] <Sebo> was there an official test server for the test day? [12:08] <ctalbert> There was, that was it. We can get you a WCalendar account for it too. [12:08] <mschroeder> We should have a set of official test servers. [12:08] <mschroeder> for CalDAV & WCAP [12:08] <ctalbert> I'll make a wiki page with that information from xFallenAngel and with the staroffice server. [12:09] <ctalbert> I think xFallenAngel has CalDav and WebDav available [12:09] <ulf> very nice [12:09] <ctalbert> We should probably move on to the next point. [12:10] <ctalbert> I'll be out all of next week. [12:10] <ctalbert> The next test day is December 19, and I've made a wiki page next week's QA Chat, which has some reminders of things to do before the test day. [12:11] <Sebo> is there a topic for the test day? [12:11] <ctalbert> I'll also list those on the ToDo List. [12:12] <ctalbert> Not yet. If xFallenAngel's Google Calendar Provider lands with enough time for us to do some preliminary testing, then that would be a good candidate. [12:12] <ctalbert> Otherwise, there have been some fixes going into CalDav, so we might focus on that too. [12:13] <ulf> and if people hadn't the oportunity to test against a WCAP server I could provide some more testing accounts [12:13] <ctalbert> That's also a good idea. It could be a "remote calendar" test day. Test all of Caldav, wcap, and webdav. [12:14] <ctalbert> And google, if it lands [12:14] <ulf> nice motto [12:14] <ctalbert> thx [12:15] <ctalbert> Ok. On to QA Wanted bugs. [12:15] <ctalbert> I confess I've spent much of my time this week on Litmus stuff, and not QA Wanted bugs. [12:16] <ctalbert> Speaking of that, if anyone needs/wants a Litmus account to create testcases for the Dec. 19th testday, let me know afterward. I'll get you set up. [12:16] <ctalbert> https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&product=Calendar&keywords=qawanted [12:16] <ctalbert> Whoo-hoo only 9 [12:17] <Sebo> Im just about to clear one more... [12:17] <ctalbert> Which one? [12:18] <Sebo> bug 312533 [12:18] <firebot> Sebo: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=312533 maj, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, ftp support is gone in sunbird-1.2 [12:18] <ctalbert> :-) [12:18] <ctalbert> I'll skip it then. [12:19] <ctalbert> So, at the top...bug 327752 is still on my list, unless anyone else wants to tangle with it. [12:19] <firebot> ctalbert: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327752 nor, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, Exception when creating WebDAV calendar using Microsoft WebDAV (Web Folder). [12:19] <ctalbert> Anyone have any ideas/input on bug 340488? [12:20] <firebot> ctalbert: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340488 nor, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, birthday's listed double after upgrade to a new sunbird version [12:20] <Sebo> hmm, still on my list [12:20] <ctalbert> ok [12:20] <ctalbert> 339960? [12:21] <ctalbert> ^^^ This one just needs to be confirmed, it seems. [12:22] <nightrat> ctalbert: is there a need for a build of sunbird from mozilla_1_8_branch for testing purposes? i build today one, so i could upload it [12:22] <Sebo> as I said: I encounterd this bug early this year, but it is likely fixed now [12:22] <ulf> if it doesn't depend on an openXchange server, I could take 339960 [12:23] <Sebo> We can only close it if we test it against openXchange :-( [12:24] <Sebo> nobody seems to have that available... [12:24] <ctalbert> Sebo, it probably has been closed. Yeah, I'd like to try to test this against openXchange. I overlooked that part of it. [12:24] <firebot> New Calendar - General bug 363090 filed by sam@robots.org.uk. [12:24] <firebot> Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363090 cri, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, Sunbird crashes when adding an icalendar file on an https server [12:25] <ctalbert> No one else has reported this thing against webdav in general, so it seems like it might just be an openXChange issue. [12:25] <mschroeder> it could be a non-mozilla timezone issue [12:25] <ctalbert> True. [12:26] <ctalbert> nightrat: I don't think there is a need for that, I think all the Tboxen are ok, except for hilo. But thanks! [12:26] <mschroeder> I will try to get openXchange running. [12:26] <ctalbert> mschroeder: Thanks! Let us know how it goes. [12:26] <firebot> sam@robots.org.uk added attachment 247851 to bug 363090. [12:27] <Sebo> lets not skip bug 312533 [12:27] <ctalbert> I am going to test bug 293562 today. [12:27] <ctalbert> Sebo ok [12:27] <Sebo> there is one remaining issue.. [12:27] <firebot> ctalbert: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=293562 cri, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, NEW, sunbird crashing while loading remote calendars [12:28] <ctalbert> Now that dmose is back, I'm going to bug him about 353722 [12:28] <nightrat> ctalbert: i don't mean a build from trunk, a build from moz_1_8_branch: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061207 Calendar/0.4a1 [12:28] <ctalbert> Which brings us to 312533: What is the remaining issue Sebo? [12:28] <Sebo> I just added it to the bug: [12:28] -->| ssitter (chatzilla@moz-9AC6F828.dip0.t-ipconnect.de) has joined #calendar-qa [12:29] <Sebo> two error messages if I have a username that contains a "." in it [12:29] <ctalbert> I see [12:29] <Sebo> apart from that it is WFM [12:30] <Sebo> So probably I should close this bug and file a follow up? [12:31] <ctalbert> Let's do that, since this is a very old bug. [12:31] <Sebo> ok [12:32] <ctalbert> bug 347128 is next [12:32] <firebot> ctalbert: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347128 nor, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, Changes to a remote calendar using ftp (without providing the username/password in the URL) are not [12:33] <mschroeder> "Remote Calendar" test day should also cover FTP... there are some old bugs and we should verify which are still valid. [12:33] <ctalbert> mschroeder: I agree! [12:34] <mschroeder> and maybe file new bugs for outstanding issues and close the old bugs. [12:34] <Sebo> does anyone else have a ftp server running? [12:34] <mschroeder> yes [12:35] <Sebo> the main issue I have: if I dont specify username and password in the address [12:35] <ctalbert> yes, I've got one here, but I'm an admin on the FTP box. I should create myself another account... [12:35] <Sebo> will sunbird ask or will it assume anonymous [12:36] <Sebo> or does this depend on ftp configuration? [12:36] |<-- ssitter has left irc.mozilla.org (Quit: Chatzilla 0.9.77 [Firefox 2.0/2006101023]) [12:36] <ctalbert> I'm not sure. I will try to check this out. [12:37] <Sebo> thanks [12:38] <ctalbert> Bug 324088 looks like it has my name all over it. Not sure how I missed this one. [12:38] <firebot> ctalbert: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324088 maj, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, accept invitation button does not add an event to the calendar [12:38] <ctalbert> Here's another old WebDav one: bug 255995 [12:38] <firebot> ctalbert: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=255995 nor, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, first calendar reload stalls when Content-Encoding: gzip used [12:39] <ctalbert> I believe that xFallenAngel's WebDav server is apache. [12:39] <ctalbert> oh, but his is on linux, not windows. [12:41] <Sebo> but maybe not an important difference [12:41] <ctalbert> maybe not. Sounds like https and gzip [12:41] <mschroeder> I also think so. [12:42] <ctalbert> it's nice to have a good bug report :-) [12:43] <ctalbert> After looking through these again, I am convinced that our next test day does need to be a "remote calendar" test day. [12:43] <mschroeder> maybe I could try it on Windows [12:43] <ctalbert> ok [12:43] |<-- Mechtilde has left irc.mozilla.org (Quit: Verlassend) [12:44] <ctalbert> I think we're over our time limit. Does anyone have anything else? [12:46] <ctalbert> Let me know if anyone wants to be able to write Litmus test cases. [12:46] <ctalbert> Thanks for your help! Happy testing. [12:46] <Sebo> bye bye [12:47] |<-- Sebo has left irc.mozilla.org (Quit: Chatzilla 0.9.77 [Firefox 2.0/2006101023]) [12:47] <ctalbert> nightrat: I finally understand what you are offering -- a Sunbird build from the 1.8 branch. [12:47] <nightrat> ctalbert: yes :-) to see that all works on the branch until we have nightlies from it [12:48] <ctalbert> I'm sorry. I was not thinking about it during the meeting. Please upload it and let us know how to get it. [12:48] <ctalbert> Thanks!
