Instructions

• Download Firefox 3.0.10
• Install it and change the update channel to betatest
• Restart the browser and select "Check for Updates" from the Help menu
• Follow the Litmus test suite for major update Firefox 3.0 -> Firefox 3.1 Major Update list
• Make sure all user data is preserved or make a note of what is not.
• Use major-updated Firefox 3.1 and verify that it is operating normal.

  • Tested with Ubuntu 6.06.
  • Distros with GTK older than 2.10.x should not get update (like older Ubuntu)
    • Firefox 3.x requires GTK 2.10.x and newer so it cannot be installed so there is no update to 3.1 b3. This was verified by me.
